Over the centuries, the slow movement of glaciers has sculpted some of the most spectacular geological formations on Earth. As glaciers form and recede, they expose and displace fertile soils. In the process, many felled trees are preserved as subfossils and pushed into the glacier's moraine, the dense mass of sediment the glacier deposits at its edge. The Montblanc Iced Sea Automatic Date 0 Oxygen Limited Edition pays tribute to this particular geological formation, which is also found at the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier in the Mont Blanc massif. It features a unique and striking dial inlaid with fragments of millennia-old subfossil wood from the Mer de Glace, preserved while trapped in glacial ice. Limited to 700 pieces, this edition is housed in a 41 mm stainless steel case completely free of oxygen and has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a brown ceramic insert laser-engraved from 0 to 15 minutes, an embossed case back and an interchangeable stainless steel bracelet with a fine-adjustment system. The watch is water-resistant to 300 metres.
